Objective measurement of latent variables

Аннотация / Annotation:
In the social and humanitarian sphere, including in the formation of most of the values ​​that reflect the quality, are latent. In Russia, as a rule, they are evaluated in the framework of classical test theory because of ease of processing and interpretation of results. But these methods are characterized by subjectivity and lack of linearity, which does not allow for objective measurement and, therefore, receive an objective evaluation of the quality, while management requires a clear picture of reality. Objectivity and linearity in the measurement of latent variables provides modern test theory (Rasch model). The author conducts a comparative description of the two theories, testing and demonstrating the benefits of the modern theory. The main attention is paid to one of the major advantages – objective measurement of latent variables. Author statistically and visually demonstrates this advantage. Despite all the advantages of modern test theory, the author draws attention to the possible limitations of its practical application.
