Risk Assessment in Using Virtual Machine Technology in Infrastructure of Learning Environment

We demonstrate prospects of use of virtual machine in information infrastructure formations for educational institution. We aim to develop decision support method for use of virtual machines in the information infrastructure of small educational system based on risk analysis. Position of the method in infrastructure’s life cycle is defined and standard methods of risk assessment are observed. We developed problem-oriented risk assessment method based on causal analysis together with risk indexes with respect to parameters of pedagogical problem.

Teaching Computer Modeling of Mechanical Motion in Mathcad With a System of «Cross-Cutting» Tasks

The article considers a technique to teach computer modeling of mechanical motion in Mathcad using «cross-cutting» tasks. As an example some successive modifications of the classical ballistic problem are considered. Each modification is accompanied by change of physical contents, methods and algorithms underlying the simulation. In the process of problem solving the concept of discretization, finite differences, arrays and loops are introduced and used. In the Part I we discuss quite simple technique for gradual introduction of students in a wide range of numerical methods and graphical methods of reporting results.
