The following types of methodologies in the economics of education are analyzed: postpositivist, neopragmatic, historical, dialectical-materialist, pluralist, eclectic, postmodernist, game, relativist. The idea that the eclectic methodology is most often used in economic theory, as well as the formal-logical approach based on common sense is substantiated.

The article contains the results of the analysis of data on monitoring the quality of education in UrFU over a sixteen-year period, based on a survey of students. A correlation analysis of the level of student satisfaction in general and responses to the questionnaire blocks: education, infrastructure, resources, awareness, relationships, prestige, advertising. The analysis of paired correlations allowed us to formulate conclusions about the relationship between the desire of students to recommend a university and satisfaction with the directions of its activities.
