The article updates the role of sustainable development as a strategic guideline for uniting collective efforts in solving global challenges. The authors explore the possibility and feasibility of integrating ideas of sustainable development into the practice of training students of economic universities due to the need to acquire knowledge, develop competencies and understand the prospects for a sustainable future at the local, regional and global levels.

The issues of using digital technologies in the financial education system of Russia including the creation of a federal methodical network of financial education were considered. The development of a volunteer’s mobile application, the creation of an immersive exhibition and a federal electronic library, the development of an electronic passport and a volunteer’s personal book, the creation of an information system for accounting and comprehensive assessment of volunteers were discribed.

The transformation of the educational services market is due to the dominance of consumer trends, a high level of competition between universities, and the development of digitalization. The difficulty of assessing the quality of an educational service shifts the student’s focus to such characteristics of education as the charisma of the teacher, interactive learning technologies, and game format. At the same time, the dictates of consumer interests in the education system can initiate dysfunction in the professional training of students.
