Improving the quality of russian higher education: the answer to modern challenges

The problem of improving the quality of Russian higher education is considered. It is shown that its solution is of key importance for the future of our country, to improve its competitiveness in the international arena. In the course of the study, the authors draw conclusions about the need for a number of institutional reforms and propose a number of measures necessary to improve the quality of higher education in Russia.

The problem of improving the quality of Russian higher education is considered. Is career guidance a key to solving the problem of youth unemployment?

One of the main problems of youth policy – the problem of employment of graduates of educational institutions and their choice of career development strategy is considered in the article. Without pretending to the ultimate truth, the author believes that, apart from the labor market situation and without appropriate administrative measures, the widespread introduction of career guidance lays the preconditions for the social frustration of the young generation aggravating problems with employment.

Competition at national and global markets of higher education

This article is devoted to the study of the dynamics of educational services markets and competition in higher education. Higher education is considered from the position of a status product. Two levels of HEIs’ competition in national and global markets are identified. In the structure of cross-border education, 3 main areas are identified: student exchange, the work of university branches, the development of joint programs. The paper gives examples of competition at different levels.

Along with implementation of the policy of reform and openness, the Chinese authorities progressively developed and improved the country’s educational system. If at the initial stage of the formation of the New China, the Soviet educational system was taken as a basis, by the end of the twentieth century, much has changed, and China is increasingly exploring Western experience in teaching the younger generation. On this path, the PRC strives to apply and introduce the latest trends in education, while at the same time by all means brings its “Chinese characteristics” to the Western models of learning.
