The article is devoted to the study of the specifics of various international rankings of universities, the strengthening of the positions of Russian universities in them is revealed. Particular attention in the article is paid to the Moscow International University Ranking («The Three University Missions», MosIUR), the role, feature and system of criteria for this ranking of universities are highlighted. A variant of improving the ranking of universities MosIUR, which will contribute to a more complete assessment of the activities of universities, is proposed.

The article considers the level of education and the labor market of the Russian Federation in gender terms for the period of 2014–2019. The review is made concerning characteristics of the gender distribution in the level of education of the Russians, the prevailing stereotypes in the specifics of the chosen professions, their correlation in different types of economic activity. The main research method was the Rosstat database information analysis method. The historical trace in the study of this issue is analyzed.
