The University’s influence on local innovation and regional development

In modern conditions of post-industrial development, universities are key drivers of innovation activity and socio-economic development of regions. This article explores the multilevel mechanisms of the impact of higher education institutions on the local innovation ecosystem and the regional economy. Based on the analysis of theoretical concepts and empirical data, the main channels of influence of universities have been identified: knowledge and technology generation, training of qualified personnel, technology transfer, and the formation of an entrepreneurial environment.

The main directions of digitalization are considered, including the creation of platforms, the use of big data and adaptive technologies. Special attention is paid to regional differences, problems of digital inequality and successful practices of integrating digital solutions. Strategic directions of development are proposed, such as the formation of competence centers and network models of interaction.

The ambiguity of the influence of the media on the professionalization of students is established: the transmission of a negative image stigmatizes the practices of violating ethics, devalues the social significance of the profession; a pronounced positive tone sets a high value bar, forms fears of not conforming.
