The article is devoted to the management of motivation in the modern educational institution. The authors identified the main factors that determine the level of work motivation teachers, analyzed the results of the research, and used compliance with the existing management theory models of motivation. The results research prepared on the empirical basis.

Special value is given to the mechanism of the creation of high school image “from within-snaruzhu” (on the basis of the corporate identity concept. The classification of tools of the image policy of higher education institution from the point of view of possibility of influence on human resources is presented. Organizational and economic aspects of realization of image policy of higher education institution are discussed.

The article presents the results of the content analysis of the world best higher educational establishments based on the representativeness of sample including 9 universities. The analysis was made based on such criteria as the number of faculties, the higher-education teaching personnel, famous alumnus, the part of foreign students, etc. The article offers the recommendations for the Russian universities to make steps to world-class.
