The article describes the model of the educational process, in which implemented the conditions and mechanisms requiring manifestation and development of the personality-creative potential of students. Conditions and mechanisms justified patterns: the psychology of child development as a subjective reality, as a personality, psychology of development of knowledge, didactics in building an educational process. Disclosed technology student-oriented educational process, forming a personality, regulatory, informative, communicative universal actions and lessons are different from the traditional ones by the structure, methods and types of activity, teacher training and training of the student.

A technology of rational improvement of a course of physics for technical studies including expert methods and procedures is considered in the article. A concept of competence in physics for a future graduate, and a student graduated a course of general physics is set; main components as special targets and requirements to a level of cometences are specified. A differentiated combination of educational elements, which are the most important in professional-oriented and worldview aspects, is reasoned. The given approaches, methods and results can be a basis for desiging a discipline ‘Physics’ as a variation of competence-oriented educational program for engineering.

A clear presentation of the system of organization of innovative activity of students is its model, oriented to the goal of professional training of students capable of forming innovation capabilities and readiness of the graduates for innovative activity in the conditions of a research University.
