Different approaches to the rating of universities are considered. It is shown that the rating systems of research universities are not applicable to the evaluation of mass universities, whose mission is to train personnel for industries of the economy and culture. The subject field for comparing mass universities should be the electronic information educational environment.

The article is devoted to the analysis of emerging practices of sociological diagnostics of quality and demand for educational services of universities. Methodological and methodical approaches to the assessment of quality and demand for professional and professional competences in the labor market are described. The concept of “professional subjectivity”, which is the result of the basic process of education, is clarified. The result of the content analysis of scientific publications on the problem and vacancies in the Russian labor market is presented.

In paper the features of formation of concept “physical field” in the pupil’s and student’s consciousness is considered. As a result of the analysis of the educational literature the basic components of concept (nucleus, near, average and distant periphery) are revealed, the features of various concept components representation in the physics textbooks for school and high school are investigated. It is shown, that first of all the formation of this concept is connected to learning of the basic properties of electrical, magnetic and gravitational fields.
