Abstract: This paper discusses social and philosophical foundations of modern educational process. The review of positivist, existentialist, paternalistic, essentialist, futurist, dialogic approaches, philosophy of lifelong learning is given. The author concludes that the study of traditional and contemporary philosophical conceptions of foreign and national historical experience in the field of education will contribute to the creation of new concepts and improving the existing ones, which in its turn will help to improve the education system and, as a consequence, the development of modern society.

Abstract. The article examines the impact of various factors on the efficiency of an open continuous education in the modern university . Authors on the basis of the analysis of the pedagogical literature meticulously examine the concept of “ factor “ and “ conditions” of their relationship , as well as the selection and justification of the factors influencing the effectiveness of the system of continuing education open . The authors build their approach to the allocation and justification of the factors influencing the effectiveness of the system of open continuous education , on the basis of theoretical positions of pedagogical science.
