The article is a logic continuation of early published works in a magazine ‘Innovacii v Obrazovanii’ (No.1,2001; No.4,2011) related to scientific education within a context of a competence approach. A concept of development of professional competences of SPO students in studying general educational scientific disciplines is proposed on a basis of the conducted research.

A method of solving a problem of reasoned selection of contents of a fundamental component of a course of physics for technicians is considered in the article. Combinations of the most valuable educational elements are set on a basis of an expert judgement of existing concepts, principles, rules, and models by professional physicians and teachers; and it enables to imporve competence-oriented contents of education.
