The article shows the importance of blended learning in the higher education system. It contains the author’s vision of blended learning as an innovation in higher education. The rationale is the recognition of blended learning as a learning model in which face-to-face learning technologies are integrated with digital learning technologies, forming a new learning experience for digital students. This fact results in an increase in the efficiency of the learning process.

The new paradigm is contradictory, nevertheless, such factors as pragmatic approach to English as Lingua Franca, prioritizing English for Specific Purposes enhance efficiency of teaching English to non-linguistic students.

The article raises an important problem of modern military education – the adaptation of foreign servicemen to the conditions of training in military universities in Russia. The features of the phenomenon of socio-cultural adaptation, the processes of adaptation to new social conditions, stages and strategies of adaptation are analyzed. The difficulties experienced by foreign servicemen in the conditions of a Russian military university are considered, ways of solving problems related to the difficulties of entering a new social and educational environment are proposed.

Guzheng is a traditional Chinese musical instrument. Teaching to play the guzhen is an important discipline in the art history complex of subjects at colleges and universities in China. The author comes to the conclusion that in the process of teaching the game of guzhen, the teacher should not only direct students to learn practical skills, but also improve their knowledge of the theoretical foundations of music.
