Realization of the strategy of forming foreign linguistic competence in primary school

Annotation. The article is devoted to the problem of necessity to reconsider a traditional approach of foreign language teaching methodology, considering teaching a foreign language as forming separate linguistic habits, it emphasizes the necessity to work out a strategy, in other words the methods of their integrated and interrelated forming on the basis of linguistic competence. Solution of this problem is an important goal of native methodology, because a successful formation of linguistic competence predetermines the effectiveness of developing pupils’ communicative competence in secondary school. The article considers a worked out for this purpose strategy of forming linguistic competence of primary schoolchildren, approved with the help of a set of exercises, made for pupils of the 3rd form, learning English in terms of the textbook «Spotlight».

Building Intercultural Communicative Competence and Mediator’s Position in University Students in a Multicultural Educational Space

Formation of intercultural communicative competence (IСCC) is considered in students learning the disciplines foreign language and an introduction to intercultural communication. The analysis of the Federal government standards was implemented to specify the content of intercultural communicative competence for the students of humanities, several intercultural projects were compared and position of mediator was substantiated as the expression of personal IСCC activity component to be acquired by students. An experiment was conducted at the Udmurt State University in order to change the ethnocentric student position in the experimental group to the position of a mediator. To assess the level of mediator’s position maturity four methods were used according to the profiles: tolerance index, types of ethnic identity, the scale of social distance, ethnic affiliation. Detailed analysis of the experimental results and positive changes in students are given.
