Egoistic motivation: experimental results and theoretical discourse

Аннотация / Annotation:
The article deals with the investigation of the ratio between egoistic and altruistic components in human motivation and behavior. Experimental investigations conducted by the author with the help of Experience Sampling Methods (ESM) enable to push forward new conception of the primary (totally egoistic) and instrumental (egoistic and altruistic) forms of motivation, which stand behind the corresponding egoistic and altruistic actions. The given conception has strong theoretical confirmation with the doctrine of psychological egoism on the first place. The well-known facts, supposing the existence of the primary altruistic motivation, can be interpreted in another, egoistic terms. The obtained results enable the author to make some conclusions in the sphere of pedagogics and morality.

In this work is devoted to the analysis of students’ psychological, psychophysiological characteristics in the course of education and pre-examination period. Interconnections of the characteristics under investigation with individual personality characteristics are examined. Specificity of changes in characteristics under question during term and in the pre-examination period – intermediate and terminal examinations – was studied. Interrelation of students’ psychological, psychophysiological characteristics with student’s progress were determined.

FEATURES OF PERFECTIONISTS TOLERANCE TO UNCERTAINTY

This article is devoted to research the specifics of perfectionism and tolerance to uncertainty of people with different levels of perfectionism. Intolerance to uncertainty, and the phenomenon of perfectionism have many common parameters but we obtained empirical evidence that perfectionists tolerance to uncertainty is lower only by a negative attitude to the uncertainty of the undefined situations, by the parameters: attitude to novelty and complexity no differences were found. We have found a contradiction: respondents with a high level of perfectionism on the one hand subjectively consider themselves as people with a high level of tolerance for uncertainty, on the other hand they do not accept the uncertainties they tend to orderliness in all spheres, especially in interpersonal relationships.

The article presents the vision, progress and results of the research aimed at the formation of students’ readiness for a psychological-pedagogical work with a patient by incorporating them into the training of psycho-pedagogical knowledge and skills during the implementation of experimentally developed educational program for the discipline «Psychology and pedagogy». There is a description of the purpose and conditions of the Program, the content of the modules, as well as innovative ways of implementation of psychological and pedagogical medical students training. We analyzed the results of diagnostics of students of medical, pediatric and dental faculties of a medical school after studying «Psychology and pedagogy», which reflect the students’ attitude to the psycho-pedagogical training. The conclusions are made about the effectiveness of the pilot Program and the need for justification and the organization of the system of formation of medical students’ readiness for a psycho-pedagogical work with a patient.
