Cognitive structures as a theoretic base of cognitive approach for students, future counselors

Cognitive therapy is based on idea that emotions and behavior are determined by cognitions. The idea was conceived in ancient Philosophy; later developed in psychoanalyses. A. Beck distinguishes several levels of cognitions: automatic ideas, persuasions (intermediate and deep) and schemes. All of them may contain cognitive mistakes and determine pathologic negative emotions. Forming of cognitive organization in childhood depends of various interactions between genetic structures and social experience. All this material should be learnt by students to master the cognitive approach.

The article is devoted to one of the urgent problems of our time – the influence of Internet space on the personality of a young user. Analyzed the theoretical and methodological approaches to the concept of «involvement», conducted a study of the involvement of students of the Scientific and Educational Center Vologda Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the virtual space, produced a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the results. The conclusions of the study are formulated.

The article deals with the influence of cognitive abilities on the success of passing the final certification by schoolchildren. Based on the experimental study carried out by the authors of the research, the influence of the intellect development level on the results of the basic state examination is emphasized. Significant correlations between R. Amthauer intelligence structure test and examination marks in subjects have been found.

Self-esteem and self-efficacy as predictors of General procrastination

The article analyzes the phenomenon of procrastination, its types, causes and consequences. The article presents the results of empirical research aimed at establishing a number of correlates and predictors of procrastination. The nature of the relationship between self-esteem and self-efficacy with procrastination is analyzed. The results obtained demonstrate that low self-esteem, instability of self-esteem and low level of self-efficacy are predictors of procrastination.

The relationship of mathematical ability and social-perceptual 
properties in student age

Currently, there are increasing demands on the intellectual potential of man. Actual is the problem of studying mathematically gifted youth at the stage of its self-determination at the University. Practical solutions require, first of all, issues related to the psychological characteristics of social adaptation of mathematically gifted young people. The study sample consisted of 76 students of natural Sciences at the age of 17 to 23 years (M = 19.8, SD = 3.2 (58% male.). The research methods were: testing, expert evaluation, survey, statistical methods. The study describes the features of social and perceptual abilities of students with different levels of analytical mathematical abilities, as well as their relationship. Conclusions can be used in the development of the program of psychological support of this category of students.

The understanding of professional talent as integral manifestation of abilities in specific activity purposes, acting as the system quality of the subject of activity is substantiated from the position of system-genetic methodology. The influence of low and high success motivation on the formation of talent is empirically studied. The empirical research is based on the position that motivation is built into the structure of each ability; motivation regulates the formation of the component composition and interrelationships of the whole talent system under the influence of the specific activity requirements.
