This article examines how the legal definitions of the concept of “administrative act” and other regulatory provisions facilitating its legal interpretation have been codified in the laws of several states belonging to the Romano-Germanic legal family. The legislation of Austria, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Sweden is examined. The author argues that the administrative act serves as the fundamental, central, and system-defining category of the theory of judicial appeal of administrative acts.
