An individual apprehends culture not only in institutions and universities or reading books, but also using radio, television and various entertainments. A process of education is not independent reading but audial and visual perception of lecturer’s speech and pictures from a computer screen. Humanistic education gives people knowledge together with independent thinking and a skill to select important things in information world, and separate true from false, good from evil and beauty from deformity.

In October 21–22 Kursk State University conducted All-Russian Scientific Conference ‘A Small Group as an Object and a Subject of Psychological Influence’. There was a round table within the frameworks of this conference. The main task of which was a search of ways of optimization of education and educational potential of such a type of a small group as a group of students based on social, psychological, and sociological forms of its organization. The chairman of the round table was A.S. Chernyshev, Doctor of Psychology, and a Head of Kursk School of Social Psychologists Investigating Phenomena of Group Activity of Leadership (theoretical and experimental developments of the school, including original hardware methods had international appraisal). The material for the round table was prepared by I.E. Zadorozhnyuk.

An analysis of Saint-Petersburg University students’ views of ascendant mobility is conducted; respondents’ answers are compared with social and social-demographic characteristics. It is investigated if respondents try to do in their lives more than their parents, in other words, to make intergeneration mobility; assessments of intergeneration mobility made by students and their chances to achieve higher living standards are examined.

The article describes changes in educational strategies of last year students at lyceum based on the data analysis of the sociological study. The author used a questioning method developed in 1998 for studying the dynamic of social processes. Consequently, the author got a unique opportunity to compare the answers of lyceum students at the present time with the answers to the same questions received in the past. The results of the analysis that a lyceum as a modernization form of education is becoming more and more attractive for last year students at lyceum than a usual comprehensive school.

Thereupon the question is whether the family promotes personal self-realization in various spheres of social and useful activity including professional self-determination and office growth has the ambiguous answer.
