Since its inception in 1942, MEPHI is a university leader in educational innovations. They introduced not only directly at the level of training students, but also in their innovativeness and the different forms of training of foreign students, as well as training courses, consistent with the principles of continuous education. In the new century, achieving MEPHI allow him to become a world-class university and to become by 2020 the real leader of the international market of educational services in the field of nuclear technology and engineering.

8–9 October 2015, was the fourth of the Tyumen sociological forum “Social challenges and limitations of the new industrialization in the regions of Russia” with participation of leading sociologists. Within its framework, on the initiative of the co-chair of the Forum G. F. Def-Kutseva held a round table discussion on educational issues and discussion of prospects of development of education in Russia and its regions as a condition of modernization of their economies. It was attended by theorists and practitioners of the education sector, underlining its growing role in ensuring the new industrialization of the country and the increment of its human capital.

In the theory and practice of education management emphasizes the importance of a reflexive approach which treats education as a self-developing environment with equality of subjects focused on the exploration and development of knowledge. Due to the fact that leading technical universities of the country primarily focused on training of engineers innovators it is necessary to create actual image of the University and all its divisions for the future professionals. Inclusion of a humanitarian component in their training is the cause of the intensification of work in this direction.

This paper investigates effects of class, gender and ethnic statuses on educational achievements and aspirations of the students of Saint Petersburg schools. We discover strong gender and class inequalities in contrast to absence of any ethnic differences. Descriptive and regression analyses are used as analytical method. We claim the necessity to take into account all three structural dimensions of inequality when developing social policies in education.
