In article influence of the Russian traditions on development of system of student’s self-government at the higher school is analyzed. On the basis of generalization of the knowledge stated in scientific literature, and results of concrete sociological research new theoretical provisions and practical recommendations about improvement of student’s self-government are offered.

In the early 1980’s. famous american teacher John Goodlad made grandiose research of the American public school education. Goodlad team found that although schools differed quite markedly in many ways, the methods of teaching in all schools were virtually identical. This narrow range of teaching methods used by teachers in the high school for the most Goodlad – one of the most disturbing findings. American sociologist Mark Penn in the 2000s, recorded a very interesting microtrends school system the U.S. as more and more parents choose home education for their children.
