Problems of Peer Assessment in Academic Work of Students

Аннотация / Annotation:
The article shows the importance of peer assessment in modern higher education both in terms of effectiveness in the learning process, and in terms of solving the problem of estimating the increased number of training tasks performed by trainees. Formulated and solved two most important problems arising in mutual expert evaluation of academic students work: drop “blunders” of evaluation and assessment of the integrity of the students as experts. Some examples are given to display practical performance of proposed solutions for the formation of a five-point evaluations of experts.

The study examines the socio- economic factors that determine the possible outcomes of the modernization of higher education in Russia and Latvia. Analyzed promising directions to improve the quality and efficiency of higher education and science in Latvia. Years of experience shows that, despite the difference in forming systems , certification , management and planning of their activities, the level of the thesis for the degree of candidate Sciences corresponds to the thesis for a doctorate PhD, a thesis for the degree of Doctor of Science – habilitated doctor (Dr.habil.). Therefore, it is possible to convert them using the most effective procedures for the implementation of each of them.
