Practice-oriented course in sociology for the professional training of teachers

Аннотация / Annotation:
The analysis of the state of social and humanitarian education of students majoring in pedagogy and other qualifications is presented. The author proposes to introduce in the curricula a practice-oriented course in Contemporary Education Sociology, which could fill up certain lacunas in the professional training of teachers making students acquainted with the methods and tools of sociological analysis, thus facilitating to shape their communicative competences. The course “Contemporary Education Sociology” may be well targeted for practical use in teaching practices. Particular sociological studies in the monitoring mode may be of great help in the organization of training and educational activities.

THE METHODOLOGYАннотация / Annotation:
The analysis of the state of social and humanitarian education of students majoring in pedagogy and other qualifications is presented. The article covers the problem of academic dishonesty (cheating and plagiarism). The irrelevance of works placed on the Internet were proved. There have been described new forms of training sessions in order to improve students’ motivation to work honestly, to upbring the intellectual immunity to cheating and other academic dishonesty.

Creation of culture of sustainable development: the role of education

The article demonstrates and states the historic impact of the concept of sustainable development that was adopted in the end of the twentieth century by the United Nations. Taking into consideration the programming role and capacity of culture in the development of society, the article manifests the necessity to form a new integrative culture that has to ensure the transition of a modern society towards sustainable development. A special attention is drawn to a core role of education in the formation of culture of sustainable development, outcomes and outlooks of education reforms for the purpose of sustainable development.

The authors proposed a classification of institutional conflicts on the types and types of institutions in a complex society. On the basis of theoretical analysis of the present stage of development of the institution of higher education, produced a description of the institutional conflicts because of the occurrence of the unintended consequences of reform efforts of management subjects, the existence of processes of exclusion, cross-border actions of sociocultural factors in the development of young people. With regard to the types and kinds of conflicts the role and place of humanistic approaches to their understanding, identify the place and role of humanistic components and the necessity of rethinking their importance for overcoming institutional conflicts.
