Dynamics of Indexes of Availability of Higher Education and Equality of Chances in his Receipt

Аннотация / Annotation:
The indexes of dynamics of equality of chances of the Russian young people are examined in availability of higher education for 2000–2015. A problem is considered in the aspect of action sociocultural, territorial, economic, institutional barriers of the indicated availability and of specific displays last. The chances receipts of higher education are analysed by the representatives of different social groups during this period.

8–9 October 2015, was the fourth of the Tyumen sociological forum “Social challenges and limitations of the new industrialization in the regions of Russia” with participation of leading sociologists. Within its framework, on the initiative of the co-chair of the Forum G. F. Def-Kutseva held a round table discussion on educational issues and discussion of prospects of development of education in Russia and its regions as a condition of modernization of their economies. It was attended by theorists and practitioners of the education sector, underlining its growing role in ensuring the new industrialization of the country and the increment of its human capital.

Mismatch between training and occupation: the case of contemporary Russian otkhodniks

The article deals with the reasons of why contemporary Russian otkhodniks – domestic temporary labor migrants – do not work in line with their vocational training. Most occupations for which they had been trained are in demand on the Russian labor market. However, in the small towns and villages where otkhodniks are especially numerous, appropriate work is either unavailable or unacceptably low-paid. The main reason for “betraying” the acquired profession appears to be the way in which migrants find work on the side – through acquaintances or by themselves rather than using official channels. The methods of securing work do not allow specialists to “meet” corresponding jobs, thus becoming a certain antipode to the previous postgraduate job placement system.

School-to-work transitions in the European Union and Russia (comparative analysis and typology)

This paper focuses on the comparative analysis of the main characteristics of school-to-work transitions among school-leavers of the EU countries and Russia. Using cluster analysis we have identified four distinct groups. Based on our analysis we argue that national institutional differences regarding employment protection legislation and the vocational specificity of the education system do indeed affect cross-national differences in labour market entry patterns.

The students’ opinion about plagiarism in scientific works (among students of Sociological department of Moscow State University)

This article presents the results of sociological research among students of the Faculty of Sociology of MSU, which aims to study the representations of students about the problem of plagiarism in scientific works. Analysis of the results of the study show that students are familiar with the concept of plagiarism, they give the relevant definitions of plagiarism, but a significant part believes that the student’s work has a certain amount of allowable plagiarism. The article shows the diversity of opinions of students in the understanding of the term plagiarism conducted a content analysis of their understanding of this term. The article also examined students’ opinion about what punishment should be taken to the students which is found in the use of plagiarism in coursework and graduates works. Students have different opinions the existence of plagiarism in coursework and graduate work.

The article presents the data of sociological research of the youth`s attitudes to the Great Patriotic War, which was conducted in Nizhniy Novgorod in 2015. The author comes to the conclusion that as a result of wide-ranging preparation to 70th anniversary of the Victory, the historical memory was actualized. However, the question remains how long it will be possible to maintain the historical identity in the face of increasing social and economic crisis.

The author shows that there is no direct correspondence between the type of education and its influence on the school-leavers’ choice of professional career and on the social and cultural development of the country in the late XIX- early XXth century.
